With limited game sightings, the emphasis was on birds and the birds of prey did not disappoint. Raptors, owls and secretary birds were in abundance … and as always the small creatures.

I have seldom seen the vegetation in the Kruger National Park looking so lush and beautiful. It made sightings difficult but there was still lots to be seen.
A perfect hideaway not too far from home was an ideal break from lockdowns. It offers so much more for a photographer than just a a few days of relaxation …..
The earlier part of summer often experiences the first rains in the Kgalagadi. Although we did not have any heavy rain we did get some spectacular thundercloud scene.
Some good photographic opportunities presented by a storm during night’s stopover near the Karoo town of Britstown on the way to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
Decided to spend a few days in Marakele before going to the Kruger NP. Whilst there was very little game to be viewed the scenery was spectacular
