Knysna Turaco (Tauraco corythaix).

Nature’s Valley, Western Cape Province, South Africa.

 Canon EOS R5 Mark II with a Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Z lens @95mm. 

ISO 800.  1/2500 sec @ f/4.5.  High Speed sync. fill flash with Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT.  Exposure set manually.

Nature’s Valley is the ideal place to capture images of Knysna Turacos.  This time I use high speed sync. fill flash because of the big difference between the bright background through the trees and the birds generally in deep shadow.  It seemed to work after a bit of experimentation with strength of flash so as not to light up the background as well.  The flash also highlighted the red outer primaries.  This particular bird was still getting fed by the adult.
